Any Plan for Valentine’s Day?

All the while, I don’t really have special plans for Valentine’s Day. Before we have kids, hubby and I would go our for dinner on Valentine’s but most of the time, it would be uneventful because I complained too much about the slow service and lousy food. :P Thus, we could not be bothered to make plans anymore, but just give each other a simple gift.

Maybe I haven’t gone to those New York Restaurants or any fancy restaurants that were given good credits for their food and services, so I haven’t had a pleasant Valentine’s dinner. Anyway, it’s impossible for hubby and I to go out alone, unless we have babysitters to watch our kids!

Feeling Good

I like my life here in Bangkok, and most importantly, my kids are adapting well. Even if I’ve slowly got back to my shopping life, I still don’t have time for my previous sui lai lai hobbies like medicure, pedicure, hairdo and my regular facial. LOL! It might take some time before I can get back to those pampering moments especially I’ve started working now. Once my kids have started school, maybe I will have some time for that, if I can sneak out from the office once in a while. LOL!

Thus, for the time being, I can only settle with DIY and pray that my skin is not getting worse. I might need a blemish acne cream for that one pimple which is bothering me, but then again, I might just go back home to see my beautician.

You might not think that self pampering is important, but personally, if I don’t feel good about myself, I will be really cranky. If I am feeling great, I will always be in a good mood and I’m a happy mother. Funny hoh? Some women can’t forgo their looks but I just can’t. It’s just not ME.

Boring Life?

A friend of mine is pretty bored with her life now. I know how it feels to be at home all the way and the only thing she’s looking forward to is waiting for her husband to be back home. She doesn’t have kids yet, so it can be rather boring that she stays at home by herself all day long. Frankly, I wonder why she quit her job so soon after married.

Maybe she can just look for small business for sale and see if she can pick up anything that suits her budget and interests? If not, she can just concentrate on getting pregnant. I really don’t know what can I suggest to her because more importantly, she should discuss with her husband about her feelings.

Being her friend, I can only lend her my ears.

Stem Cell Technology

I found it surprising that stem cell technology is not that commonly known in Bangkok yet. My SIL didn’t store her baby’s stem cell as she wasn’t aware about this when she gave birth to her 5 months ago. Over back home, most parents are aware about this but it is a personal choice to or not to store your baby’s stem cell. It can be easily done that way and it is totally painless for both mother and baby.

Nonetheless, women can still do this again since stem cell can be harvested from menstrual fluid. The stem cell can then be transformed into different types of cells such as cardiac, neural as well as bone cell. Nonetheless, the cost of future stem cell therapies is not included.

Lactating Chinese Policewoman Breastfeeding Earthquake Babies

I’ve wanted to write about this when I first came across the news, but as you know, I have been pretty busy lately. Nonetheless, it’s not too late to do so as I really admire the selflessness of Jiang Xiaojuan, 29, in helping the other babies. She is a policewoman, and some people think that it’s not appropriate for her to expose herself in public. But at times like this, she was just acting on her mother instinct in providing those babies with milk, comfort and security. Her 6 months old then was being taken care by her mother as she was on duty. She is instantly became “China’s Mother No. 1.” after the news was spread, but Jiang didn’t think that it’s a big deal breastfeeding the babies of disaster at all.

Frankly, I’m so touched by how she’s helping out at a hard time like this in Szechuan.

Stem Cell from Menstrual Blood

When I was younger, I really wondered why should we have menstrual cycle every 28 days as it was so troublesome and I couldn’t enjoy my regular swimming or ballet as usual. But once I’ve become a mother, I started to appreciate this wonderful cycle which allows me to enjoy motherhood if I get pregnant at the right time.

Nonetheless, I’ve never thought that menstrual fluid can be harvested for its stem cell and be used for regeneration of useful cell. We stored our daughter’s stem cell when she was delivered. There is a cancer history in my family, so I thought we might just keep it.

But even if you are late to do so for your daughters or yourself, you can still keep the stem cell from your menstrual blood which has always been treated as a waste. Just check out the link if you are interested to know All About C’elle. I found that the introductory price is quite affordable, so besides getting your Celle Order Now, you can also Become C’elle Distributor if you are from US. I don’t think we have this service here yet, but who knows, it might be available one day.

Woman Health Issues

I haven’t seen my gynae for some time. The last time I went to his clinic was a few months ago for pap smears test. Like some women, I don’t feel like seeing my gynae most of the time, unless it’s necessary. If I need to find out more about woman health issues.

One of the websites which provides such information is AskMyGyn, and it doesn’t only provide articles about woman health, you can also ask their certified gynecologists about anything until you are totally satisfied with their answers. Of course, you might need to pay a small amount of consultation fee, but they will refund the fee to you if you are not satisfied with the information provided. On top of that, AskMyGyn.com will donate 25 cents to Doctors Without Borders for every question asked. So, you are not only getting the information needed, you are helping some victims of war and disaster indirectly in getting the medical attention needed by volunteered doctors and nurses as well.

So, if you have any question about birth control, pap smears, vaginal infection or breast care, just check out the articles or ask the gynecologists at AskMyGyn.com.

MIL and DIL

I was cleaning up my jewelry box just now and found that I kept a pearl necklace, which was given to me by my MIL. She bought 4 of the same designs and all her daughters-in-law have one. It was given to me before I got married, but I have long forgotten about it. Frankly, I’m not a big fan of Akoya pearls and I don’t even know how to match the necklace with my jeans!  However, it was her way of greeting us into the family, so it should be kept well as our family treasure.

It’s not easy to be close to our own mothers sometimes, and let alone the mother of our spouse. So, there’s a lot of give and take between us and we just have to learn to love them as our own mother too. If it’s not because of my MIL, I think my days as a SAHM won’t be that easy. At least I don’t have to worry about getting food ready on the table everyday now, not until we move over to Bangkok! LOL! So, I keep telling myself, if there’s a conflict, step up and see from her point of view. Thank god that I’m blessed with an understanding MIL, so we hardly have issue at home.

So, we are moving away soon and I hope that my kids will miss her too.

Stay At Home

If I’m given the choice to choose again, I would still prefer to be a stay at home mother. It’s really not that bad and I can always be there for my kids. Besides that, we can make money from our blogs if you join networks like Bloggerwave. The money might not be a lot, but still, it will mean something to us one day.

What Do You Think About Beauty Contest?

Like most mothers, sometimes I wish that my little girl will grow up fine and turn into a beautiful young woman. I don’t mind if she likes to be a model or attending any beauty contest, provided that I’m well informed about it and she will have my full support. Of course, I will hope that she will continue her studies as much as possible before deciding on joining all these contests. It’s just that I don’t think beauty will last forever and it’s best to be brainy too.

So, anyone here who’s interested to be a model? Just check out http://www.lookoftheyear.com for more information. But please get your parent’s approval if you are too young to make any decision ok?
