Simple decoration with leaf and flower food picks

My kids will be spending the whole holiday break at my office, but they are not bored at all. They have playmates here, and they can keep themselves occupied with some “paper recycling work”, messing up the piles of office tees which look like nfl t shirts, or just playing with their iPad and iPhone.

For the past few days, I only packed undecorated snack bentos for them. But today, I felt like adding some food picks.

Frankly, I can’t remember which online store I bought them from. Feel free to shout if it’s from your store. :P

All I did was pinning a leaf and a flower pick each as close as possible to create this:

The bento will look better if there are some butterflies, bees, and etc, just like a garden theme. But I was running out of time, so there you go. LOL!

Simple Little Fish Bento

When I mean simple, it’s really very simple. This little fish can be done in less than 5 minutes, after you have got everything packed and ready. All you need is a small mini wiener cut into thick slices, a heart pick, and some nori and kamaboko (or artificial crab meat) for facial decoration.

So, here are the little cute fishes:

My boy’s fish has 2 picks, and I love the crown. :)

The picks nailed the wieners to the bread, so the fishes are well secured. As for the bubbles, I think they will move around if my kids snake the bentos.

Here’s what I did previously, but it’s a goldfish bento.

P/S: This bento was added to What’s for lunch Wednesday Week 4 as well.

Bento#5

I’m not feeling well today. When my boy was asking for his bento, I puzzled for a while, thinking of what could I prepare in 5 minutes before we rushed out from the house.

So, I just fit them blueberry jam sandwiches. I wanted to use the cute cookie cutters I bought 2 days ago from Tesco, but the white bread was too thick. Thus, I just cut the sandwich into cubes and let my kids “decorate” them with colorful animal picks from Tesco too. Gosh, there are so many promotional products which I can get from Tesco for my bento frenzy!

My kids love it, of course. The animal picks are definitely prettier than normal tooth picks. LOL! So, today’s bento is so simple, I wonder if it can be considered as a bento.
