Earthquake in Sichuan

I felt sad hearing and reading about the news of Earthquake in Sichuan, I didn’t feel like blogging about it for days. Those pictures in the newspapers which dying children or dead people hit me emotionally, I felt like crying reading the news. There’s a piece of news that touches me the most, and I’ve just read it from NanYang this morning.

The rescue team managed to rescue a 3 or 4 month old baby girl who was nursing at her dead mother. Her mother must be worrying about her baby getting hungry, and she latched her on before her last breath. Even the rescue team members cried seeing the mother and baby, and the baby cried immediately when she’s being pulling away from her mother. Who won’t feel sad reading this news of a dying mother whose last thought is feeding her baby?

Father’s Day Soon

Mother’s Day is over but there is another celebration next month. I’m not sure if many of us celebrate Father’s Day, but I notice that most people around tend to pay more attention to Mother’s Day than Father’s Day. Maybe most Asian fathers are not as expressive as mothers, especially the older generation. However, I try my best to be there for both of my parents especially on their birthdays and these special days.

If I can afford it, I would love to give something nice to my dad. I stopped buying him presents since the day I quit my job and be a stay-at-home mother. If I can afford it, I hope that I can buy him an omega watch. His watch is a present from me many years ago, and it’s to change to a new one huh? I found a few nice ones from ViaLuxe, not I’m not sure how much they cost. Judging from Omega’s high quality and prestigious reputation, these watches can easily cost me 4 figures in RM, and that’s too expensive for me now. So, I don’t think I can buy one for my father in the near future, but maybe when our new business is doing well.

I like the new Omega Speedmaster 5-Counter Chronograph designed for Beijing Olympic Games 2008. It’s definitely a collectible item not to be missed. So, if you can afford one, check it out and maybe you can get one for your dad?

Deciding on Cars

I know that we definitely need to have a car in Bangkok later, but we haven’t made up on which model to get. I might just check out those used cars victoria and see if there’s any model which I like, but judging from hubby’s preference, I know that he will choose to buy a pick up truck. Furthermore, driving a truck is pretty common in Bangkok.

Besides that, I don’t think we will get a used car. All the while we prefer a new car since it’s under warranty for at least a year. Anyway, not all used cars are bad. My brother got one with good price and it’s a nice car too. Maybe we should just keep our option open. Who knows if we will get a good bargain?

WWW or Without it?

I’ve just redirect this blog from http://www to http:// only. I don’t know which is better and since it’s registered without the www with a few networks, I think it’s best to remove www from the URL. Some of the spiders just can’t crawl the site well and I’m tired of sending those emails to the administration over the same matter again and again.

So, it’s officially with www but you don’t have to change the URL if you link to my blog. It will still be redirected.

Promote Your Parenting Website

This blog of mine might not have page rank for months, but it still brings in some organic traffic due to its keywords. I am not fishing for Adsense seriously, but I got the thrill of seeing the organic traffic leading to this blog. :) Nonetheless, I haven’t done any search engine optimization on the blog because I’m clueless about it. The traffic I get is more like just a mere of luck. It comes and goes without my control.

But if you have a parenting website that you wish to promote, you can find out more about SEO in Houston Apogee search. Read up the latest information about SEO from its blog too if you are interested to know more.

But then again, I really want to know how to get out from the sandbox!

Donate A Boat

I guess I have wrote about this a few times in a few blogs of mine, but for the purpose of charity, more is better than less. I believe in doing the best in helping the less fortunate. Not all of us have a lot of money for donation, but if you have a boat, you can donate boat to raise money in making videos for the children.

As long as we do our best in helping others, it’s a good deed indeed.

Help To Find Sharlinie

focus1301_sharlinie.jpg

I overheard the news about Sharlinie Mohd Nashar being abducted over the radio on Friday.

Five-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar has gone missing nearby her house in Taman Dato Harun, in Petaling Jaya since Wednesday. The public is urged to help find her.

I didn’t read the newspapers that morning and when I heard the news, I was worried about her. It’s not the first case in the country and after the murder of a girl previously, I guess the public is more keen to help out this time. We can be ignorant and selfishly think that it has nothing to do with us. It has! It’s a life of a child. So if you have any information, call the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-7966 2222 or Chong at 016-603 6633.

Running A Home Office

Hubby may have his business moved somewhere and I might be helping him out initially. We might set up a home office to run everything from home so that it’s more economic. Everything will be carried out in tight budget, so we might need the VoIP Call Center Phone Systems which handle our calls but save up on our phone bills.

The Xpander’s Nimbus VoIP Call Center Edition doesn’t require a lot of money for setting up and the installation won’t take a lot of time to be completed. Thus it’s one of the essential elements in our home office since we will make a lot of calls in and out of the country. But everything is not confirmed yet, I’m still waiting for hubby to make up his mind if he’s moving away.

Password Protection

I’m not good at remembering all my passwords so I write most of them down. But even if I can’t remember them, there are ways of retrieving those passwords as I have done this a few time.

But if company security, Password Vault is very important as most of the files and details are private and confidential. They can’t just let the information leaked out or being unprotected. Thus, if you company’s is using the PowerPassword by Symark, you can easily protect the root of account  from external and internal threats as well as modify and delete soem UNIX and Linux accounts which are not needed anymore.

So, do you need this at your work?

Holiday Cards

I’ve just come back from a short trip yesterday, but if possible, I would like to spend a few more vacations during the coming holiday. Most of the school children will have 7 weeks of long holiday until school starts again in January. Not all the children will be seeing their friends teachers at tuition classes or holiday programs, but they can always give their friends and teachers some Holiday Cards to express their gratification as well as showing their friendship. I used to do this in primary school by giving out cards to my close friends. Besides they can send out the Christmas cards too if they would like to wish their friends a happy Christmas in December.

Besides buying the cards from departmental stores, you can get the cards printed by VistaPrint as well. Just use the coupon code of ‘FreeHoliday’ and you will get 10 holiday cards for free. If you don’t like to use the custom template, you can also upload your own photos and personalize the cards with your own greeting texts. That will give the cards some personal touch. So, if you kids tell you that they miss their friends, they can send out the cards to their friends as seasonal greetings. It would be nice to hang up the cards as wall decoration too, if your kids receive some cards in return.
