Christmas Soon

Christmas is coming soon but too bad we don’t have any special plan again this year. Hubby can’t take any day off by end of the year, so we are stuck in Bangkok for Christmas. For the past 2 years, we went to Central World to snap photos of the nice Christmas decoration, but I’m not sure if they are still there this year after the burnt down. Things are not the same even if the mall has reopened.

Oh well, but I will still get the kids some Christmas presents, and pretended that Santa Clause drops by. My boy doesn’t believe in Santa anymore, but I still hope that my gal won’t grow up so soon. Check out these christmas present ideas for boyfriends if you are looking for one. As for hubby, I guess I know what should I get for him. :)

Is “Winter” Here?

It’s been 3 days when the weather suddenly changed from rainy to cool and windy. We are enjoying the cool breeze now, and hopefully, it will last longer this year. “Winter” only lasted one day in Thailand last year, so I was rather disappointed!

Our relatives are heading to Chiangmai tomorrow, so they will probably be enjoying cooler weather up north. We were quiet unlucky on our trip to Chiangmai 2 years ago. The weather suddenly changed to humid hot the first day we arrived in Chiangmai! So, I have never experienced winter in northern Thailand before. That’s why I plan to make another trip there one day, hopefully I don’t have to wait too long for one.

Chiangmai is nice place to visit, even if it’s not a city for shopping or adventures and you can also forget about getting Polaris Sportsman ATV Parts here, but it is rich in culture and arts. I simply love it.

Dream House

After 2 years in Bangkok, I would say that it feels like home to us, instead of a place to live for a short period of time. Unlike other expats, whom might have work contract with a time frame here, we have our own business, so I do hope that it will grow well over time.

Thus, I hope that we can get our one house here, even if it might be hard for expats to get a landed property. Expats can buy condos in Thailand, but not landed property, and certainly not the land. We can only do so under our company name but it’s too early for this stage yet.

However, I have visited a few gated community, and I like what I have seen. It’s a bit hard for me to search online about the houses in Bangkok as most of them are listed in Thai, and I can’t read Thai. But if you happened to be looking for Wilmington NC homes, get Wilmington NC real estate to help you out. I haven’t tried any real estate agent, and I prefer to do this on my own so that I can save up on commission. But then again, some professionals like Wilmington NC real estate will make a house hunting easier for most.

It’s still too early for us to get a house, so I’m taking my sweet time looking around, and short list a few area. Frankly, if I’m a multi millionaire, I could easily get my dream house but my company status is not ready for that either! So, let’s make more money first.

Not a sports fan

I’m not a sports fan. In fact, I hardly exercise since I moved to Bangkok. Hubby is the one who brings the kids for swimming or golf range, and he’s also the one who initiates that we should go cycling at the park. I would go along if it’s cycling, but for swimming and golf range, oh well, I would rather stay at home. :P

We hardly bring the kids to futsal or watch any games too. That’s why I don’t think I would get any Jersey Boys Tickets or Minute Maid Park Tickets, even if I’m at and the games are on. Let just say that I would be yawning watching the matches. :P

Just check out the links if you are interested to get some cheap ALAMODOME TICKETS or any teams of your choice.

Work Hazard

When I was working as an engineer, there was a period of time when I was very much exposed to some chemical solution, which I used to wash solder paste from the stencil. I was working in a new phase, with minimum engineers, and there was not a lot of workers to help out too. Basically, it was like doing everything on your own.

I told myself that if I was going to get married and have kids, this job was not for me. I hate to be exposed to work hazards most of the time, and it was a stressful job. I could handle it when I was single, but not after I have a family. Besides that, I don’t want to end up having some health problem and filing something like Accutane Lawsuit or Trasylol lawsuit some day.

But luckily, after some time, there were new workers transfer to the phrase and things were progressing well. I didn’t have to do most of the washing up anymore. Nonetheless, I decided to try something new, and quit the job. But then again, I must say that I really enjoy myself in that job position!

Gold as Investment

I have almost loved jewelry, especially diamonds and gold. But due to the fact that we migrated to Bangkok and started our own business here, my budget is very tight and it’s been quite a long time since I last bought gold. If I have the financial ability now, I might get gold bullion from the United States Gold Bureau.

That will be a good investment and keepsakes for my kids, since gold price has always been increasing over the years. I must say that it’s better than keeping bonds or shares, but then, who am I to say about investments? I’m pretty lame in this field. I’m more like a spender instead of the bread winner. :P

But for gold, I won’t be wrong about it.

Selamat Hari Raya

How I wish I can have some rendang now. I miss Malay food! Not that I can’t get some here but the taste is still not the same as those prepared by my Malay friends. Not to mention, those kuih raya!!! Being born as a Malaysian in a multi racial country gives me the advantage of celebrating different cultures and tasting a great variety of yummy cuisines.

As much as I’ve read some negative and not so “1Malaysia” news on the net, I still believe that many of us, regarding our races, still love our country. So, if I’m not working in another country now, I would love to put on a pair of baju kurung, wear a nice necklace with a bullion pendant, put on some make up and go visiting some Malay neighbors. Hey! It’s Raya, how can I miss those chicken curry? LOL!

Again, enjoy your holiday folks!

From Busy to Lazy

Have you ever wished that you will have more than 24 hours a day? I did. But if I would to have more than 24 hours a day, I hope that I can get a babysitter to help out too so that I can spend some time on spa. LOL! I used to be able to squeeze some time during weekdays for spa but not anymore. After I started working seriously, time is so limited!

But I still have some personal time at night after putting my kids to sleep. Then I will take my time putting on my skincare and watch a nice series. I have putting away my knitting needles and jewelry making tools and handicraft sets because I’m too lazy to do them nowadays. Basically, I will just lie on the bed watching series. LOL! What a lazy pig. :P

After a long day at work and doing chores, I think I deserve to be a lazy pig. :P

I love shoes

I used to buy a lot of shoes when I was in Ipoh, but I slowed down a lot since I moved here. Besides having a smaller shoe rack, I hardly wear shoes around when I work. You see, I will change into my FitFlop upon reaching my office because I need to climb up to the fifth floor to my desk, and if I need to go out during office hour, I will change to another pair of shoes in my car. Normally, there are 2 pairs of pumps or heels in the car which I change according to my outfit, so the rest of my shoes are placed in the shoe rack collecting dust.

When we are out in the weekends, I will normally be in my flats these days so that I can walk around faster, especially if I need to chase my kids!!! Those heels are really collecting dusts and I gave some away to a part time cleaner. She’s so happy even if she can’t fit any. LOL!

But still, the shoe fetish in me didn’t die off totally. I’m eying on the boots and heels by Jaspal’s fall collection, which haven’t hit the store yet. They will probably call me once the boots and shoes arrive. :P

On top of that, I’m still waiting for a pair of Oxford heels which I bought online. Some online stores carry a lot of nice designs, including heels, flats, wedding shoes or even kiddie shoes! So I enjoy checking them out.

Ah…why is it taking so long to get my new shoes? Hope to see the parcel next week!

Burn treatment for the little girl

I hardly give money to beggars. Not that I don’t have sympathy in my heart, but I do choose the “persons” whom I will give some money away. If he’s a man, very well built and looks “healthy and normal”, I don’t see the point of giving him some money for his free meal. But if they are kids, and under a “safe and sound” circumstance, I would give some coins to them.

However, I don’t give money to kids beggars all the time though. When I was in Cambodia, there were a lot of children asking for money. My kids were totally horrified and they refused to step down on the muddy ground. The children came pretty close to us and there were quite a lot of them. Hubby and I carried our kids most of the time, and I had a very bad backache after that short trip! Giving money out will be a bad idea as we might get trapped with more  beggars. :P

But there was a time when I couldn’t help holding back my eyes when I saw a little Indian girl, who had severe burn scar on her body. Most of her body and part of her face were badly burnt. I did get a shock when her mother patted my shoulder, and asked me to turn around. They were asking for money in a small supermarket in Ipoh, and I didn’t expect that to happen.

I did wonder if the girl had gone for proper Burn treatment, what had happened to her, and how painful it would be for her to go through her agony. Judging from the way she and her mother dressed, maybe they couldn’t afford a better burn treatment nor medical disposables for the little girl.

I gave some cash away, and secretly hope that they won’t be kicked out from the supermarket by security guards. You know? Most malls and supermarkets won’t allow beggars to be in there, and I’m not sure how they managed to get in in the first place.

Anyway, I hope that everything is well for the girl and her mother.
