About Me

I am a working mother who loves shopping and fixing cute bentos for my kids when time permits. We are currently staying in Bangkok, but I still miss the yummy and delicious food in Malaysia!

The main reason why I started packing food for my kids is, they couldn’t get used to the local food in Bangkok when we first moved here in 2008. I packed lunch and tea for them when they tagged along at my office, and later on as after school tea once they started kindergarten. Being a busy mother, I’m trying my best to provide my kids a better meal than just giving them the freedom of buying junk food with their pocket money. Nonetheless, I can’t stop them from buying food just like their friends, but I will try my best to influence them into healthy eating.

My bento-ing skill improves gradually too, and my early bentos are pretty simple. I still pack simple bentos on busy mornings, which are not shown in this blog. Only those decorated bentos are shared here, so please don’t get the wrong impression that I’m a supermom. I am still struggling to be one. LOL!

In short, it’s a blog about my mothering experience and bento-ing is a part of me being a mother. Do free feel to email me at amyquah77@yahoo.com if you need further information.

The last but not least, thanks for dropping by my blog!

    Hi Amy,
Great & informative blog u have here :)
I’m new to your blog and i have a question. Is it safe to spaghetti strips straight from the packet or i need to fried it first? I want to prepare some simple bento for my 2 yr old kids.
    Please advise.
    Thank you

Hi Elise, since your child is only 2 years old, I won’t suggest spaghetti strips. You can deep fried the strip for 10 seconds before using it to join the food bits together. But for 2 years old, there is a risk of choking, please do not use food picks or spaghetti strips all together.

I don’t deep fried the strips but since I pack in the early morning and the meals are taken late by 4pm, the spaghetti bits are soften. I guess the moisture in the food has soften it.

    Hi Sarita,
Thanks for dropping by my blog. :)
I’ve never cooked before I moved to Bangkok 4 years ago but it all turned into a habit to me now. You will have lots of fun preparing meals for your girl soon.

Hi, i’m Daisy from JB, and i’ve been looking for your blog for a while last night! LOL. I used to read your bento blogs wherein you made a pair, one for your girl and one for your boy but that was at least 2 years ago. I thought of mothering blogs that i liked last night when adding links from my new blog. (it’s just 4 days old. so nothing to see there..pai sei!) and remembered yours. But wow…so many mothering blogs these days about bento. I was looking for a malaysian mom staying in thailand…:P anyways, am glad you still bento for your kids. Keep up the great work!!

Hi Daisy, I’ve slowed down in bentoing. I still pack food but mostly non decorated bentos. Kids have grown up and not really into cute food daily. :)

HI, I am Anne, a Malaysian living in the UK. I am a mom of two, and I am so glad that I stumbled upon your blog. I love it! It is quite a challenge to buy bento making tools over here apart from getting them online. I have only just started as my eldest is starting preschool, and my second child will be starting pre school next year! I have a boy and a girl, just like you, so I feel really grateful to learn about your blog. Thank you!
