Ham and Cheese Pikkachu Bento

My boy is in Pikkachu frenzy lately, and he made me having McDonald for 3 conservative  weeks because he wanted to collect the Pikkachu toys, came together with Happy Meals. Gosh, I really had too much McD lately!

I promised him that I would fix him another Pikkachu bento (sorry if you are already bored with this theme) and he requested that I add a Pokemon ball for him. He said Pikkachu stays in that ball. Ok, I admit it, I know nothing about Pokemon!!!

So, I figured that I could just use this Pikkachu rice mold (bought from Bento Craft) to cut the sandwiches, ham and cheese.

The sandwiches were spread with jam and placed at the bottom, topped with ham and then cheese. Pikkachu was decorated with nori, cheese and artificial crab meat.

As for the Pokemon ball, I used a quail egg. I gently shaped it into a round ball when the quail egg was still hot. I wrapped half of it with artificial crab meat (not so well done actually) and added nori and cheese onto the ball.

So, here are the bentos:

Fixed the same theme for my gal to make things easier for me. :P

There are corn, sweet potatoes, kiwi, rambutans and cherries (for my boy only) in the bentos too.

My boy loves it but he requested me to fix other Pokemon character next time. O.o That my boy, you will have to wait long long for it….

They are so well-made, Amy! The crab meat you get there are so nice in colour ya?? Those in Spore looks so washed out.

I noticed you put rambutans for your kids, do u remove the seed? Kimi has just started on rambutans and absolutely loves them. Altho, I’ve taught him how to eat the rambutans, I was just wondering if u hv a beta way to remove, I don mind to learn from you. :)

    Thanks Lil’chan and tatabonita. :)

tona-mama, previously, I would slice the flesh of the rambutans and place them in silicon cups for my kids. But they told me that it’s too watery after long hours, so I stopped doing so unless they eat at home. Then, I figure that I could make a long cut and try to make a whole slice of rambutan but it’s not really nice. :P So, I let my kids learn how to eat the whole fruit but reminding them not to put the whole fruit in the mouth. They ought to eat bit by bit, and I monitored them for some time. I know, I do sound like a nerdy mommy. LOL!
After a while, they got the idea and they are like experts eating rambutan, so I pack the fruit as you see now. They are having their bentos without my supervision now, so I have to trust them to know how to eat the fruit. If you want to have a peace of mind, better slice out the fresh. :)
For cherries, previously, I also tried to make a cut and dig out the seed. Same goes to lychee. :P But now, I don’t have to do so for them.

    Hi Amy,

Tks for the valuable advices!! :)

I totally understand what you are saying… at home, I think it is ok but I don know how when he is in school or church… u know when kids are among kids, they tend to be more ‘wayward’… so far, rambutans ok at home…

Think like u said, try and try till we can trust them. :)

    Tks again!!
