Little Mole in Lunch Bento
My Songkran break has finally ended, and I’m back to work again this morning. My kids are still tagging along with me as we didn’t enroll them for second half of summer camp. Hence, they don’t have anywhere to go except following mommy to work.
As usual, I’m preparing lunch so that they don’t have to eat out and it’s easier for mommy, who’s avoiding the hassle of driving 2 monkeys kids out to beat the lunch hour traffic.

Today’s lunch bentos.
I’m using the 2 tiers bento box given from 2 blogger friends who visited Bangkok last week. The boxes are quite big for my kids’ appetite, so I only packed a thin layer of rice, topped with teriyaki minced pork, some fried egg, broccoli and grapes. I decorated a small quail egg as a mole, and cut the words from kamaboko.

My boy’s cute little mole peeping out from his lunch. Its feet were cut from another quail egg white.

I added a ribbon pick for my gal’s mole.
I must say that this 2-tiered bento box is just perfect for my kids’ lunch.

Thank you, Laudryamah and Tricia!

The bento set is so lovely! You are so creative! I am just starting to learn about bentoing!
Very cute!! Was reading up on your old post about bf.. Looking for some tips to increase milk supply and trying hard not to throw in the cold towel…
Thanks!!
aww, the little moles poking up from the “dirt” is another wonderful idea! what did you use to dye the eggs – shoyu? i love how the box for your boy is always a little bit different from the one for your girl
Alice, you have a wonder recipe blog! I should check it out more often.
Ultracoolmama, are u supplementing? It’s best to nurse directly for the first month and try to avoid bottle feeding as much as possible, especially at night. It would help to boast the milk production. Another way would be to nurse and pump at the same time, it will stimulate the body to produce more. Anyway, it’s always demand and supply in breastfeeding, as you as you need nursing directly and forget about supplementing, you will have milk. After all, we are mammals.
gamene, I fixed braised dark soy sauce pork and eggs, and just dip in the quail eggs, so they are brownish too.
That box is perfect for your two kids! Looks like their appetite is bigger now, as they are growing. Cute mole idea and feet!
Sherimiya, my gal couldn’t finish the rice and pork, it’s still a bit too big for her, but I dun mind taking the leftover at work.
