Bento#151: Simplied Mickey and Minnie Bento
My kids start their summer camp today, and it’s another “struggling” morning for all of us as we need to get up early and rush out of the house like normal school days. But I think we will all get used to it after this week.
So, I’m back to preparing simple tea bento for my kids, which they will take after school at 5pm. I decided to pack some peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches for them, and decorated the bread as Mickey and Minnie with these tools:

The Mickey cutters really make things easier for me. I used the cutters to cut the bread and cheese. You can use one of the cutters to cut the facial details too, but I preferred to stick to nori.
Here’s the end result:

My boy’s bento with peanut butter sandwiches, apple, some smoked chicken wiener, oranges and grapes.

My gal wanted to use her Minnie bento box today, and it fits today’s theme pretty well.
Mickey and Minnie will look nicer if I fixed with ears with nori, but I was running out of time.
So, it’s more like simplified Mickey and Minnie, but my kids still like it.
BTW, I’ve just received a parcel from Susan today. Thanks Susan, for your wonderful prizes.

I’m in cloud nine to have your book, Susan!

Glad you like the book, but you should really think about doing one of your own. Your bentos are fantastic!
I second that Susan. Amy could do her own book.
ahhh…..that mickey cutter is really what i want leh….i just got a mickey rice mould recently but to cut out the features free hand is really difficult!!
very cute bento jobs!! susan’s book….must be nice!!
Susan, not only me, my boy loves the book too.
Oh, frankly, I’ve never thought of coming out with a book, I’m still new to bento-ing.
SIG, aiyo, make me blush loh. LOL!
Jacss, you should get it! It’s really useful. But I think the size of the cutters and the rice mold might be slightly different, but it’s worth trying combining the tools.
helo! for the mickey parts mould, it cannot be used to cut nori, can it? cos its not sharp enough? For nori, usually can only either cut freehand or use puncher. Correct or not ah?
Thanks!
Shi-chan, for me, I just cut or punch the nori.
Hi shopping mum, am new to bento-ing and i’ve got the same mickey cutters. Tried using it on cutting the facial details on nori but it’s not working..may i know what do you mean by “just cut” the nori? do i need to outline it first with the cutter.
Xelia, you may get some punchers. Some of my posts featured a few punchers which I use in bento-ing. Some times, I just cut with scissors or knife.
hi shopping mum, thanks for your respond. Will try again and just want to say i love your bento creation! they are all so lovely; your kids and hubby are really lucky!
