Bento#113: Roast Chicken Sandwich Bento

I prepared roast chicken sandwiches as breakfast today, and packed some for my kids’ bentos. However, I tried to make their bentos more attractive than our breakfast. LOL!

Here’s how it’s done…

I cut the hotdog bun into smaller pieces, and cut a small cut into each one so that I could slip in the chicken and veggie. You can add in some ketchup or mayonnaise too, but I forgot to do so for the bentos.

I wanted to “present” the sandwiches as teddy bears, so I prepared the ears with kamaboko for my gal, and with quail eggs for my boy. My gal rejects eggs, as usual. I have no idea how to cut the eggs nicely, and the yolk looked very ugly. Thus, I used a piece of ham to cover it up. :P Poke a small piece of spaghetti strip into the “ear” so that you can secure it to the sandwich or chicken (depends on where you want the ears to be).

Pretty simple huh? Thus, here’s the end result…

My boy’s bento with lover teddy bears. I like that little cupid puncher I bought from Daiso yesterday. So cute! There are rose apples, mangoes and strawberries all cut in heart shape and lots of blueberries in his bento too.

My gal’s bento has only a teddy bear due to her smaller appetite. She loved the bento when I showed it to her this morning. Or maybe she’s delighted to see the heart shape strawberries and blueberries? :)

Today’s bentos should be speedy but I spent some time preparing the chicken. If you used ham or sausages, it can be done in lesser time. Happy bento-ing!

haha..Yea, I saw that teddy bear buns at those Japanese bento blogs all the time too..complete with their usual egg ears or ham ears. Always thought that when we have buns , I would do that , but todate I have yet to pack any buns for their bento.

Arlene and Ellena, thank you thank you thank you!

Allthingspurple, ya, they are good at baking their buns, and some even did it in teddy shape. I don’t have the time and skill for that! LOL! Thus have to be “innovative”.

Anggie, some takes time, but some are speedy. I have time constraint on weekdays, and I want my beauty sleep too. LOL!

Another sweet bento. Can I ask what u use for the ‘flower’ – kamaboko? I notice that your kamaboko is much wider than the one I got at Jusco supermarket. If not too much trouble, can u show me the packaging of the kamaboko, tia.
