Bento#73

We have a day off today, so we went shopping with the kids. Today’s bento is a simple one, with a butter bun, but slightly decorated to make it more attractive. I packed some jackfruits and grapes too, and used flower carrots as barans to separate the bun from the fruits.

Flowery carrots as barans, and they are hidden behind the buns.

A bunny for my gal and Shinkansen for my boy.

But what do you know, my boy left his lunch box at the shopping mall!!! Argh…Thank goodness it’s only one of the lunch boxes from 100yen shop, and not his favorite Pooh Bear or Shinkansen. If not, he will surely bug me about it. He has totally forgotten to bring it back when we ate at the food court. He didn’t want to eat “outside” food but his fruits. So, that goes his lunch box too…

Oh ya, I lost another animal pick, again!

It is really fun looking at your bento, very creative.
BTW, how do you affix the eyes , nose and mouth in place to ensure it will not drop off ?

Like your flowery carrots, something unusual!

Chia, you can use some butter to stick the seaweed on. Most of the time, it won’t drop off unless you shake the lunch box. :)

Arlene, I found a lot of Jap blogs do that, for adult bentos though. Can give it a try.

I love your flower carrot! Look so unique and pretty! U use the flower cutter? Then the small hole is using another cutter to cut it out??
U always full of great idea to make the bento look so nice!

Annie Q, ya, just use a normal flower cutter to cut out the carrots, then use a smaller round cutter, or a straw to cut out the holes. If you steam the carrot first, it will be softer.
