A New Home Soon
Hubby and I have been pretty busy with the new house in Bangkok for the past few days and it’s almost completed. We still have a lengthy shopping list to go but we will get to it for the days to come. Without the kids coming along with us, we really manage to speed things up and things have been running smoothly. Of course, we miss the kids, but we know that it’s better for them to stay with my parents instead of running the errands all around with us.
The house is not big though, that’s why hubby and I can clean it up faster. It might be too small a few years from now but who knows? We might end up with a bigger house then. Anyway, I’ve stayed in a big bungalow for years and it’s not easy to maintain the house. Lots of cleaning has to be done day in day out to keep it from being messy! Without a maid here, it’s best to have a smaller house until my kids are old enough to pick up their responsibility and clean their own rooms. They grow up in an environment where house chores are done by the maid, so I want them to be more independent here and pick up the cleaning chores by themselves. I know that my kids will be sent to further study elsewhere in their teens, so it’s best that they can be more independent now.
Another thing about the house is the walls are covered with wall papers. I’m not sure if the owner will mind if I nail some family photos to make it more homely. It really feels like just a house to me, instead of a home. Maybe my kids are not with us, so it doesn’t feel quite right. But I must tell my kids not to mess up the walls. They have the tendency of drawing on the furniture and walls when they are looking for some fun. So, I better hide all those Papermate pens and tell them firmly that it’s not a joke for doing so. We are just renting it and it doesn’t belong to us totally.
Anyway, maybe they will quit this habit when they are much older later. Most importantly, I hope that all of us can can adapt to this new environment smoothly and easily. So I better pick up the language fast.
