Tree House and Swings

My boy asked us the other day if we can get him a tree house just like Peter and Jane. He loves the books, so it’s not surprising that he’s very much into tree house, farm, horses and fire engines all the time. Thus, I told him that we will figure things out once we find a house and settle things down in Bangkok. That gives him some anticipation about moving over as it’s a totally new environment for all of us.

If only we can afford to get the kids one of those tree houses that come with swing sets, I know my kids will surely love it.

But in that case, we need a house with bigger compound! If not, how are we going to fit one in?

Moving Is So Hard

I’ve been busy sorting things out at home and thinking about how to move them to Bangkok. It’s not easy to move everything, so I have to weigh out which are the essential items and what else could be bought in Bangkok later. We are going there to find a house on the coming trip, and hopefully, we will be able to find one that fits our needs and budget. We are not buying a house though so we can forget about mortgage lenders at the moment.

If we found one with furniture, that will surely speed things up. But nonetheless, I can be very picky about furniture. Not all furniture designs are safe for kids, especially my 2 active kids. I just don’t want tables with glass, sharp edges, or chairs without arms. I can’t expect anything until I go there and see for myself.

Hopefully, we will be able to find a nice one as soon as possible. I hate moving. There is so much to do now.

Girls, Don’t Be So Silly and Naive

The news about the sex scandal involving Edison Chen and other girls like Gillian Chung is nothing new by now, but for the first time ever, Gillian came out and said something about it. She said that she was naive and silly in the past and she’s grown up now. Frankly, as a mother of a girl, I do have worries like this. I mean we will do our best to raise our kids, but what if they are doing things in the influence of their dating partners without us knowing anything about it? Besides that, it’s not easy to handle cases like this, even if as parents, we want to stand by our kids. I don’t know how Gillian’s parents think about this but it’s not going to be easy for them.

That’s why as a parent, I try to think from a parent’s point of view over this scandal. I’ve seen some clips of girls being so naive to have their photos taken by their boyfriends without thinking about the consequences. Besides this, what about those who tattooed the boys’ names like they are lovers forever? Or get themselves pregnant when they aren’t capable of taking care of themselves?

Thus, I think I will try my best to be a friend to my kids. I hope that we can talk things out openly and may even talk about porns or the consequence of the sex scandal. I know that most of the parents are emphasizing too much on academic performance reviews of their children, but sometimes, we can’t ignore the morale of our kids.

In short, girls, just don’t be so silly. It’s going to cause a lot of emotional pain to you forever.

Chinese New Year Frenzy Is Over

It took us about 5 hours to come back from Penang to Ipoh yesterday and thank god the festive holiday is all over by now. My boy has started going to school this morning, and my gal is trying to get more rest since we were busy traveling and visiting around the past few days.

As for me, it’s time to get some detoxification done after eating too much junks during Chinese New Year. I won’t take hoodia to lose weight but I will only watch my diet and get some exercise by running with the kids if possible. Besides that, I have to start packing up for Bangkok as I’m going there again in 2 weeks. I have to move some clothes and stuffs there on this trip and hopefully we don’t have to send too many things for the subsequent trips.

After that, I better start looking for information about home schooling. I need to coach my boy at home before the new term starts at international school. See? I am going to have a busy rat year.

Off The Mahjung Table

We went to a relation’s place last night and after dinner, almost all the adults gambled. I sat besides hubby to join in the fun and at the same time, walking around to keep an eye on my kids. My kids wanted to sit with us and played the games but I wouldn’t allow. They are too young for this and furthermore, I don’t want them to learn about mahjung and gambling at such young age.

I have some cousins who gamble along with us when the adults are playing. They are not addicted though, but only do so during Chinese New Year. But nonetheless, it’s best not to introduce gambling to young children as they are too young to understand when to stop if they win or lose the money.

Luckily, you need to be old enough for online casino and they can’t play the games online secretly too. Kids are so into internet these days, who knows what they are doing behind our backs? Of course, my kids are too young for the computers too, and I will worry about this later.

Red Packets

I will be busy tonight as I only got the new notes exchanged from the bank this afternoon. I have to start preparing the red packets later since the guests will arrive early in the morning.

I have prepared my kids’ new clothes, but I’m not letting them wear any gold jewelry even as simple as a necklace. Some mothers will allow their children to put on some gold jewelry during Chinese New Year, but not me. I prefer to keep the gold in the safe deposit box at the bank, or just invest more in gold bullion for my kids. They can decide if they would like to sell it off when they are older, but for the time being, I will keep the gold well for them. The price of gold has been increasing over the past years, and hopefully it will continue to do so.

I better start preparing the money and red packets, it’s getting late.

Happy Chinese New Year

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year and may you and your family have a prosperous new year ahead. Let’s not forget about having fun being a mother, even if our kids might make us climb up the wall sometimes. LOL!

In short, happy breastfeeding and mothering. And don’t forget to prepare lots of ang pao ya? :)

Kids Afraid of Hair Wash

It’s the eve of Chinese New Year and I told my boy that he had to wash his hair as we wouldn’t do it on the first day of Chinese New Year. I don’t know, someone told me it’s the tradition of not doing so on the first day, of course, I have no idea why I followed this custom!

My boy was terrified and he screamed and cried in the shower. We have problem getting him to wash his hair and his hysterical cries influenced his little sister as well. Now, I have two children crying and screaming in the bathroom with me when I wash their hair. It can be a very stressful daily routine.

I searched through the net and read up on related topics, and I found that I’ve tried most of the advice. I’m tempted to get this shampoo rinse cup but hubby is reluctant. He thinks the kids will get used to it. Sigh…

More Clothes for Girls?

My maid has finally ironed all the new clothes I bought for my kids and I realized that we bought a lot for my gal but my boy only has about 5 sets of new clothes. My gal’s collection is at least double her brother! My hubby said we tend to shop for more for our girl when we are out and I admit that. It’s so easy to pick up some pretty dresses for her and when it comes to shopping for my boy, we just can’t find anything much.

No wonder some friends of mine said that we tend to spend more when we have more girls, and might even need the angel investors to make more money for us. LOL! But there are lots of things to get for boys too, like those toys. When it comes to toys, my boy has more as comparing to my gal. I have lost count of the number of train sets we got for him, but the good thing about toys is both kids can share them out. However, it’s impossible to do so when it comes to dresses or skirts!

It can be treated by surgical belts or bindings to hold the protrusion back but there were cases involving Kugel Hernia Mesh Patches which are not safe for the patients since some of them have suffered post-operative injuries.
