Moving Starts…

I will be away for a week so I might not be posting much. We will be busy looking for a house and getting things done before moving over with the kids in 2 months. Once I get back, I will have to look for international movers to move our stuffs as I can’t possibly move them all by flights.

I guess my blogs are still the same no matter where I am as I can blog anywhere. But maybe the direction of this blog will be different, like how to settle kids down in a moving process? There might be some issues that I have to deal with later.

So, wish me luck.

Techni Ice, Ice Bricks and Cooler Bag For Breastfeeding Mothers

A mother was asking me about how to transport expressed breastmilk the other day, and I found that I haven’t blogged about techci ice, ice bricks and cooler bag. I thought that everyone knows about this, but I was wrong. So, here are the necessities I would use when I expressed my milk away:

For short distance or time span less than 6 hours of storage:

There are cool pads too if you buy the set from Avent, but I don’t like to use it. It’s not cooling enough.

Techni ice is useful but I don’t recommend it if you storing for up to 10 hours. I found that it melts by then.

For long distance or longer time span of storage:

I prefer to use the ice bricks as it keeps the bag cold for about 12 hours. Besides that, you can use it with Techni Ice if you want the bag to be colder.

My Coleman mini cooler bag. It should be enough for a day’s of EBM. That grey bag is for storing my breastpump between pumping session. I don’t wash it if I can’t find a hygiene place to do so.

If I was away for a few days, I will use the bigger cooler bag to transport my milk. There will be a few ice bricks and techni ice in the bag too, I will make sure that the bag is as cold as possible. I have another Coleman cooler box, but I can’t find it anywhere in the house. My maid must have kept it away. :PI’m using bottles to store my EBM for short distance. But if I’m away for a few days, I will use the plastic storage bags. It’s best to keep them upright with these holders:

I’m not sure if they are still available now, I’ve not been a moo for so long!

Teaching Kids About Skype and MSN Chat

We installed Skype and MSN at my parents’ place last night since the kids will be there for more than a week. Hubby and I will stay connected with them through the webcam and mic. It’s much better than talking over the phone as international calls are too costly.

We taught them how to turn on the PC and work with the mouse, but I think my dad will have to help them with it as my 3 year old is struggling with the mouse. We tried to make a call this afternoon and they seemed to enjoy it. At least we can still “see” them everyday and they won’t miss us that much.

But I won’t let them use it once we are back. I still want to restrict internet to my kids until they are older.

I’m Free, Too Free

I don’t feel like doing anything much but just knitting and packing up. My kids are staying with my mum now and I’m quite free at the moment. I was wondering if this is the life I will have if I’m not married or have kids?

I guess it’s quite boring if I am not a mother, and my life will just be filled with work and work. Or maybe I will get an mba online as that’s what I wanted to do last time before I quit my engineering job. See how funny life can be? You might not get what you have planned. :P

Nonetheless, I’m happy that I made the right move of having kids and quit my job. Being a mother is a bliss.

Gain Weight Easily After Stopping From Breastfeeding

Yikes, I can’t believed that I’m writing about this. I stopped breastfeeding my gal for half a year now and I found that it’s not that easy to keep off the weight, unless I cut down my diet or exercise more. Breastfeeding really helps me to keep myself slim and furthermore I could still enjoy food. I have always been a big eater, but I was eating like a man when I was a breastfeeding mother. LOL! But now, I try to cut down my food intake as I can gain weight easily.

Maybe it’s time I try out some of the best diet pills available in the market as I don’t breastfeed anymore, and thus I can take the risk. But if you are a breastfeeding mother, please eat healthily and forget about all those herbal diet supplements that tell you how safe they are. Breastfeeding is the best way of getting back in shape after childbearing, if you combine it with some exercise and proper eating. Trust me, I have been a moo twice and I’ve proven it.

I’m Stressed Of Moving

I gave up. After packing up some of our stuffs, I know that it’s not possible for me to do everything by myself. I can’t seem to fit the things in the carton boxes or luggages unless we have more. Besides that, it’s already more than 30kg if we move some of the kids’ books. Gosh, I’m going insane. Give me movers New York now!

Luckily hubby agreed that we should just let the international movers to do the job now. He saw me packing and driving myself nuts just now. LOL! Let me say this again. Moving is hard. It’s stressful for kids and it’s worse for me.

Education is Important

I know this girl from the spa center where I go regularly. She’s only 16 but she started working as a masseur 2 years ago. I thought that it’s illegal since she’s underage, but the business belongs to her aunt, so she is helping out.

She told me that she’s quiting school and going to work there as a full time masseur. I told her that it’s a bad idea. Why can’t she complete high school first? Furthermore, she can always go to any beauty school once she’s graduated. Education is so important these days, and it’s best to finish as much as you can. I know that Bill Gates didn’t complete his studies at Harvard, but not everyone can be like him ok? Just stick to school as much as you can, you will miss how fun it is once you have started working.

Parental Control Software

Since we are going to set up the internet connection for our kids during their stay in Penang, I think I might want to install a parental control software on that PC. I have disabled the pop up, but just for my peace of mind, I think it will be a good idea to install the software too.

I found some free software but I haven’t made up my mind on which to install. May I know what type of software are you using?

Separation Anxiety

We are going to leave our kids with my mum for more than a week while hubby and I work some things out in Bangkok. My boy is clearly unhappy about this arrangement and we really can’t bring the kids along this time.

I know that it’s quite disturbing for them as we have always been so close and taking care of them sinceĀ  they are babies. They have been to my mum’s placeĀ  every now and then, but maybe this is the longest stay they will have by themselves.

Frankly, I know that I will miss them too. That’s why we are setting up a webcam so that they can talk to us everyday. Gee…I’m suffering from separation anxiety too.

Any Valentine’s Gift?

As usual, I received a bouquet of roses from hubby on Valentine’s Day. I have asked him to stop sending me flowers, but I guess he’s clueless of what to give me so he picked the flowers again. Flowers are so expensive on that day, and he better get them from wholesale roses since he has some friends in Cameron Highlands!

But then again, did you receive flowers on the day you gave birth to your baby? My doctor asked hubby to get me a bouquet of flowers on the days we had our babies at the hospital, but he didn’t do so. I wonder which daddy did this because it would be nice to get some flowers after the labor. :)
