Fibromyalgia
An old aunt of mine has been complaining about pain in some part of her body and she’s been experiencing some stiffness on her elbows and knees. She feels exhausted quite easily even if she’s been sleeping a lot, that’s why she looks older when I last saw her. I surfed the net for more information and I suspected she might be suffering from fibromyalgia.
Here’s what I found from MayoClinic.com.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.
I think I will talk to her about this when I see her again in a few weeks. She really needs to seek medical help if her symptoms are getting worse. Besides medication, she can help herself feeling comfortable by getting enough rest and exercising regularly. Leading a stress free lifestyle might help as well and she better takes things easily.
*Sigh* I think I better don’t take my health for granted.
