International Schools Are Expensive!

I have been busy searching for more information about international schools. Of course, I won’t be needing one if we are still staying here, it’s just another option for my kids if we are moving away. The school fees are so costly, I wonder if we should move away as a family now. Starting all over again is not easy, and I’ve expected to pay a lot of money for this move, but little that I know, the education for my kids costs the most! I might need to get an engineering job plasma cutting to solve things out! But I don’t think I can get any job there as I don’t speak their language.

A friend of mine who has children in international school suggested that I can do home teaching with my kids. I will spend some time looking for more information about home teaching, and if I am confident enough, I might give it a try. But my kids might lose out the interaction with other children, especially those at their ages.

It’s a tough decision, but we still have a month to think about this again and again.

School Starts Next Week

I’ve just come back from my boy’s new school orientation. He likes the place as he saw a few of his friends from previous nursery. It’s definitely bigger than his old school, and he loves the big playground too. Coincidentally, I met with my ex-colleague who’s working on used cisco at my ex-company and she’s working as a kindergarten teacher now. What a small world!
I will be quite busy when the school starts on 3rd of January as my boy might need me to be there for him, at least for the first few days. I haven’t enroll my gal into the nursery as we are not sure if we might move away. No point letting her going through all the new environments and she’s still very young, there is no rush for schools yet.

Gee…I better get those school bag, stationery and uniforms prepared by next week.

If I Don’t Have A Helper

I wonder how I will handle my kids and the house if we move away and I don’t have helper at home. I don’t trust anyone easily especially those that come into my house. I will have to juggle everything by myself and it won’t be easy for all of us. It’s a new environment and everyone will have to start all over again, and my kids may need more attention from me. I don’t think I can handle all the cooking, marketing, making sure that the house and Delta faucets are sparkling clean all the time. So, it’s going to be very tough.

If only I can get my maid there, but I don’t think it’s possible. Let’s see what’s hubby’s decision in a few days, we should have the answer by then.

Go With Flats

I’ve made up my mind to wear my Nike shoes tomorrow instead of my regular pumps. I don’t want to have any blister or foot ache walking a mile with a toddler in my arms. I better make sure that I pack some Foot Pain Relief products as well, and you will never know when they will come in handy.

I guess it’s not easy to look polished when you are traveling abroad with 2 young children, unless you have nanny coming along. It’s better to opt for comfort instead of looking great. But I wonder if I still have those blister patch in my drawer? I have to check it out tonight.

Trainer Pants

I found that diapers and trainer pants are very bulky. I’m not going to pack a lot and we will shop once we arrive in Bangkok. It’s insane to bring the diaper pants around and they are heavy too! It’s only my gal that I need the most as she still can’t control her bladder well. If she wants to poo, she will just poo in the diaper when we are on the move. I need a few in our backpack just in case. It’s easier with my boy now as he’s older, but I will just ask him to put on the diaper pants, just in case he falls asleep or we can’t get to the washroom in time.

So, I hope that I have packed everything for our flight tomorrow.

Comfort Objects

I talked to my kids just now when I was putting them to sleep. I asked them to choose a stuffed toy to be brought to Bangkok instead of bring their sleeping bolsters which demanded more space in the luggage. My gal chose her baby doll while my boy got his purple teddy bear. I hope that they will be able to sleep well in another place and the toys will provide them the same comforting feeling as their bolsters.

All I hope now is that they will remember to bring the toys back, if they lose them, I will be in trouble. LOL! It’s going to take a lot of coaxing if their toys are gone, so I better watch the toys for them closely.

In Debt with Credit Cards

I was quite shocked with the statistic of how many young Malaysians are in debt with credit cards. Most of them will only look for cash advance or balance transfer to settle their debts, but without controlling their spending, it’s going to bring them deeper into this financial disaster than coming out from it.

A cash advance is only meant for those who need  money urgently and it provides a temporary relief if you can’t get the amount of cash in a short period of time. But don’t just get the money and splurge on the luxury you are craving for as it won’t work this way. You will still have to repay the loan!

Just control the spending, and forget about using the cards.

Different Parenting Methods

When I was in Langkawi, I bumped into a foreigner couple who had their holiday with a little girl. She’s about my boy’s age and she’s an active little girl. I found that her mother has the typical ang moh ways of handling kids. She wouldn’t ask her girl to stop biting her shoes or crawling under the dining table. For most Asian parents, we will drag our kids out from that table already!

No wonder I can’t enjoy a nice meal when I’m dining with my kids. I am too tensed and paying too much attention on them. Maybe I should just let go and adopt the ang moh parenting style. But my kids will definitely look weird in the eyes of Asians.

Schools

I met a friend of hubby’s last night and like most of his circle of friends, her children were sent to international school. I wanted to send my kids there previously, but after some discussion with hubby, we decided to stick to normal schools. But if we are moving away, my kids can only study at international schools and I wonder what will the effect be. If we move back, it’s going to be hard for them to follow the KBSR syllabus and they might not know Bahasa Malaysia well and so is Chinese.

It’s a dilemma to me on deciding the schools they should go. If they are going to international schools until graduated from high school, then the only way of pursuing their studies will be to study abroad. Gee…it’s a headache to me now.

Noisy Afternoon

It’s noisy the whole day through and I wonder how my kids are going to take their naps later. The houses around us are having some home improvement projects but luckily the major ones are completed days ago. One of the neighbors has his pool reconstructed because it’s more than 20 years old. I haven’t seen the new pool but I hope that it’s as good as those projects done by arizona swimming pool contractors. Most pool contractors charge a lot of money, but not all will deliver high quality end results like Cameo Pools.

I’m glad that we are going away tomorrow and be away from the noisiness of the drilling machine.
