Be Careful with Bumbo Seat

I have a Bumbo which I bought when my boy was starting on solid. MIL preferred us to feed him on the ground than using the high chair since the other kids at home at some accidents falling off the high chair before. But this article showed that Bumbo may not be that safe, if you use it wrongly.

I saw a lot of parents using Bumbo by placing it high up. Even the ads on some parenting magazines showed that as well, if I’m not mistaken. It was one of those Bumbo gathering where a few parents going out with babies and their Bumbo.

So on the safe side, please follow these safety precaution when using the seat:

• Don’t let your child sit in the baby seat unattended, and don’t use the seat on a table, countertop, chair, or other elevated surface.

• Contact Bumbo if you’d like to receive a new warning label and instructions. The new warning label will say: WARNING — Prevent Falls; Never use on any elevated surface.

Financial Planning before Having a Baby

I may be a big spender, but I didn’t spend much buying baby products when my kids were younger. Most of their things were being handed down by their cousins and I saved up a lot of money during the first year of their lives. The only expensive thing I bought for each of them is the car seat. Other than that, we didn’t use a lot of money.

Since expecting a baby needs a lot of money, and if you are paying with credit cards, it will be wise to get Cash Back Cards for the payments. At least you will still be able to get some cash redemption from the points collected and the cash can be used for other purposes.

So, plan your financial wisely before you have a baby. You will see that money is really needed in all aspect after a baby comes along.

Talking about Bees and Hives

Out of the blue, my boy took out the children encyclopedia about human body. He normally goes for those books about animals, but this afternoon, he decided to get a different one. When we came to the part about reproductive system, I found that I was talking about bees and hives to him in detail as I was reading from text. Of course, there is no s*x word there, but I guess he got what I meant. Previously, I only told him about giving birth, but didn’t tough much about the part of the fathers.

Sooner or later, he might come and ask me about this so it’s nothing to let him know earlier. I wonder if he will still pick the book about human body? Or go back to those that he likes?

Autism Network for Direct Instruction

I found that this blog is very useful if you are looking for information about how to help your child which is diagnosed with autism. As I have stated early, as long as parents stay positive and keen to help out their kids with autism, the children will still be able to pick up the skills, but don’t expect them to have the speed of an ordinary kid.

Frankly, I like those materials at the learning library. Any child can benefit from playing those games as well. Some of the materials can be purchased at book stores as I have seen them before, but some of them are totally new to me. The course is quite costly, but if it helps, the parents involved can seriously think about learning it.

Moments Away from Mothering

I had a great Sunday, even if it’s just plain boring. I didn’t have to take care of my kids in the morning as hubby took them out. It’s always nice to have some moments away mothering. At first, I supposed to have more in the afternoon when I would be meeting up with a friend, but her car broke down. She could get a Civic Radiator easily, but her mechanic is not working today. It’s a Sunday, and most workshops are closed. But still, you can easily get car spare parts online now!

If you ever need a radiator for Honda and Acura, you can get it from Radiator.com. Don’t you worry about the parts as they are original and they come with lifetime warranty. At the same time, you can get those parts installed by their mechanics too, if you are interested. If not, you can just get your own mechanic to do it for you.

I hope that my friend will get her car fixed soon. I miss going out with her.

Since I Stopped Breastfeeding…

Since I stopped breastfeeding, I noticed the following differences:

  1. I’m taking more and more coffee each day.
  2. I skipped my vitamins.
  3. I don’t care if I take junks.
  4. I gain weight faster.
  5. I don’t feel as “attached” to my koala gal who is very independent now.
  6. I have more time for myself.
  7. I miss the breastfeeding bonding…
  8. My breasts are back to normal size.

Gee….I’m kind of miss the wonderful moments as a moo, but complete weaning is needed now.

Autism

Most parents are more open minded to special kids now. I know a mother who has 2 hyperactive kids but she is very open minded about her kids and provides them with the necessary treatments and programs which are suitable for them. One of the kids I know was diagnosed with autism recently, and his mother has suspected that since he has problem in communicating verbally.

Most kids in autism have will have problem linking words to express themselves and it may lead to frustration. But as a mother, most of us know what our kids are trying to tell us. However, when it comes to making friends and schooling, it might be a different case.

However, help is always available. It might not be cured, but with the right approaches, the kids with autism will still be leading a great life ahead, as long as the parents are willing to look for the treatments. Anyway, the journey might be tough at first, but as long as we take this positively, things will be fine.

A Newborn Baby

I’m going to see a newborn baby tonight. My kids love babies, so they will be very excited to see this baby of my friend, and they are having a home party for the baby. But my boy said he only needs a baby, which is my gal and he won’t want another sibling. LOL!

Anyway, it’s always nice to see babies and preparing for baby’s arrival is an exciting moment. I hope that she has got whatever she needs for the baby, if not, she can always get some from online baby stores since she still cannot go out for her confinement. Not every first time daddy knows how to get baby stuffs, you know? :)

I just can’t wait to see the baby tonight.

Oops, Now It Drops!

I hate to see the up and down of the page ranks, but what to do? Most of us bloggers are depending on it because we are only little fishes in the sea of blogosphere. But this blog has a dip this morning and dropped to PR2. So, how is it going to affect me? Maybe I will not be getting a lot of offers over here from now onwards, but I will still be blogging as usual. I can’t control Google, but the most I can do is not to be over stressed about this and get myself depressed over it!

Knitting For Kids

My boy has been asking me to knit more tees for him. I can knit very fast if I have the time to as I finished his Winnie the Pooh tee in 5 days. However, it was really tiring. Now, I try to knit slowly while enjoying the quiet moment I have as I only knit those difficult projects which I need to refer to diagram when my kids are sleeping.

I love knitting because I enjoy the process of making something nice and personalized for my children. But buying yarns is a painful experience as they are so expensive here! Unless you want to go for those cheap yarns, which I prefer not to as my kids have sensitive skin, I only go for cotton for them. But if you really don’t have the cash, you can use your credit cards for the purchase, and only pay back the debt later. I only suggest credit cards if you have the ability to pay off your debt. Besides, you can consider getting the cards from Mint Credit Card, only if you are a UK citizen. You can check out the details from their official site.

BTW, I notice that other mothers like to do scrapbook for their children. That is something I’m still struggling on.
