Mothering Corner

My mum doesn’t like us to spend money on getting her flowers. I used to send flowers to her on Mother’s Day, but I stopped doing so after she “scolded” me for wasting the money. To me, I was just trying to show my appreciation to her by sending her the flowers, but in her opinion, she would prefer me to spend my money wisely as flowers died off after a few days.

That’s the thing about being a mother. Even if I know she likes the flowers, but she would prefer not to have it because she was thinking about my financial ability. At that time, I was still a student, and I saved up my daily allowance to get her the flowers. But now, I can easily get her anything. She still prefers me to save the money for myself or my kids. That’s what you callled mothering love huh? It’s always about the kids, but not ourselves.
