I breastfed my daughter for a year, and I dealt with low milk supply from the time she was born. It didn't mean I couldn't feed her 18 oz. of breastmilk a day, but after the first month of her not gaining as much weight as she should have, it meant she needed more than what I could offer. I read supply and demand over and over anywhere I turned to for help, so I almost couldn't believe that I couldn't produce enough. But that was the case with me. If I have more children, I am going to test the prolactin theory on my body and wake my baby up every 2 hours at night to feed, and if I still have low milk supply, I am resigning myself as not the norm. -and never listen to the supply/demand theory again!

You are right. My milk supply was very low during the first 3 days Shayanne was born. I was so frustrated that she kept on crying and crying.

Fortunately, my milk supply has been consistent after that.
